My life’s dream house

  • by

After a lifetime of dreaming of it I snagged my dream house, a charming 124-year-old piece of Great Falls history.

This little gem stole my heart the moment I stepped through the doorway. It's a cozy, single-level bungalow with a surprising amount of space. Sure, it sits on just a third of an acre, but that means less lawn to mow and more time to relax on the weekends (or tackle those DIY projects I've been dreaming of). Plus, being a corner lot gives the house a unique feel, although those two snowy walkways in the winter might be a test of my commitment to curb appeal!

But the real showstopper for me was the enclosed porch. It wasn't on my "must-have" list, but let me tell you, it was the game-changer. It's the perfect spot to curl up with a good book on a rainy day while watching the world wake up. It adds this wonderful sun-room vibe to the house, and I can already envision cozy evenings spent  with fairy lights.

Speaking of charm, this house has it in spades! Most of the original craftsmanship is still intact, from the beautiful moldings around the doorways to the hardwood floors that creak with a story to tell. It's the kind of place that whispers of the lives lived here over the past century, and I can't wait to be a part of its next chapter.

Now, the best part? Restoration time! My weekends are officially booked for the foreseeable future as I embark on a journey to bring this little house back to its former glory. Imagine it – sparkling original fixtures, gleaming woodwork, and a touch of modern flair blended seamlessly with the historic details. It's going to be a labor of love, but I know it'll be worth it to see this house shine once again.

So, stay tuned for renovation updates, before-and-after pictures, and maybe even a few confessions of DIY mishaps along the way. This is more than just buying a house; it's about creating a home, a place steeped in history and filled with the promise of new memories. Wish me luck, and feel free to share any restoration tips or words of encouragement in the comments below!
